2007-2008 REFEREE CALENDAR

Referee Instruction Clinic


This clinic will prepare new United States Soccer Federation Recreational Referees (Grade 9)
A. Minimum Age: 11 years old by the date of the clinic
B. Badge: USSF Recreational Referee, with current year
C. Authorized Assignment Level: Referee on recreational youth games under-14 and younger ONLY and assistant referee on any game U-14 or below



This class is full.
No additional registrations can be accepted.

Dates and Times:

FEBRUARY 16              8 AM TO 5 PM (1 HOUR FOR LUNCH AT NOON)

Location:  Greenville Technical College, University Transfer Building (#104) - Second Floor Room #261

Directions:  Greenville Technical College, 506 South Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29606

FROM I-85 SOUTH:
Take Exit 46 marked "To Mauldin Rd., Pleasantburg Dr. and Augusta Rd."  Proceed down ramp and exit again onto Exit 46C marked "Pleasantburg Dr., Mauldin Rd."  At light, turn right onto Mauldin Road.  At next light, turn right onto Pleasantburg Drive.  Proceed north on Pleasantburg Drive for approximately 1.5 miles.  The second light is the main entrance to the Greenville Tech campus. You will see the Greenville Tech entry gate, clock tower and Campus Security building.  Turn left onto campus.  Follow posted signs to "USSF Training".

FROM I-85 NORTH:
Take Exit 46 marked "Augusta Rd, Pleasantburg Dr, and Mauldin Rd."  Pass under two bridges and take Exit 46B, marked "Pleasantburg Dr", to the right.  Proceed straight on Pleasantburg Dr approximately 2.5 miles. You will see the Greenville Tech entry gate, clock tower and Campus Security building.  Turn left at light onto campus. Follow posted signs to "USSF Training".

FROM I-385 NORTH OR SOUTH:
Take Exit 40B marked "Pleasantburg Dr, South."  On Pleasantburg Dr, proceed approximately two miles.  The campus is marked with a large sign on the corner of Pleasantburg Dr and Faris Rd.  You will also see a large electronic information sign.  At the next light, you will see the Greenville Tech entrance, clock tower and Campus Security building.  Turn right at light onto campus. Follow posted signs to "USSF Training".

No missed time for the class will be allowed. You must commit to the full time in class.

Parking, Lunch:  Parking is free.  Lunch is available at nearby restaurants.

Fees:  The fees will be $45 total.  Cash will not be accepted.  Make checks payable to “SC Referees.” Bring your check to the first date of the class. The fee does not include the uniform or equipment. 

Course:  The course will be taught using a US-Soccer PowerPoint presentation. The objective is to teach an understanding of the Laws of the Game and referee procedures so that every student will be prepared to referee their first games. Registration as a Referee is contingent on passing a written test at the end of the course.

Handouts may include a copy of “The Laws of the Game” and “The Guide to Procedures for Referees, Assistant Referees and Fourth Officials”.  These may be accessed prior to the class from the web site www.ussoccer.com under Referees and then Laws of the Game.

Bring to Class:  Bring a suitable notebook and a pen and/or pencil for notes.  A good pencil with an eraser will be best for the test.

Print the form on standard 8.5” x 11” paper.
Please use only black ink when filling out the form.

Complete Step 1 on the form by filling in your USSF ID Number, (if you have one), Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial, Address, City, State, ZIP Code, Email Address, Telephone Numbers, Gender (M or F), Date of Birth, Country of Birth, and Country of Citizenship. Leave the other blanks in Step 1 empty for now.

Skip Step 2 and Step 3 on the form for now.

Complete Step 4 only if you wish to contribute to the US Soccer Foundation.

Complete Step 5 on the form in black ink, noting YES or NO to the question, sign and date the form.

Bring this completed form to the Referee Clinic in addition to registering online.

Referees over the age of eighteen seeking to officiate South Carolina Youth Soccer Association (SCYSA) matches should also print the following Risk Management Volunteer Disclosure form, complete the form, sign the form, and bring it to the clinic.
